One Double Too Many

A conservative double arrives at the resort. Mr John is dressed meticulously in white suite, wears a white hat. Lucky passes the welcome drinks…formal greetings, Jackie’s briefings, nothing much spoken…

At the RECEPTION

Frau Dirk walks to the WC, she tries the lock of QUEEN’s which is closed. She moves to KING’s.
Monica stops her, “Ma’am! That belongs to GENTS.”
Frau Dirk utters, “Someone’s in there.”
Monica, “It’s occupied. It won’t take a moment.”
She waits a long while. The door opens and John walks out silently in white suite and hat.
Frau Dirk eyes at Monica, “Excuse Me! What did you say?”
Monica shrugs, “Oh! He’s the plumber.”

On the J E T T Y

Sand collecting group packs to go home.
Ali (watchman) checks them, “Your bag! Open!”
One collector reveals his bag to Ali with bikinis…
Ali, “You have stolen them from the rooms. Look at them! Look! All sexy underwear…”
Sand-Collector says, “No. I pick them from the bin.”
Ali, “So you steal from rubbish. You come to the Manager with me.”
Sand-Collector wrestles with Ali and throws him over the jetty. He climbs the boat, drops the cord and they go off. Ali struggles to climb up from the water.

In the night, Fitte peeks through the open window that stands to the portico. He finds a gap between the curtains and steps in slowly. He sees a glimpse of Maya. Suddenly, his mobile phone starts to ring with a voice of a crying baby. It shocked Maya. Fitte makes a break.
Maya cries, “Ama!” and races to the door. “Someone outside the window, somebody peeping…”
As Fitte pulled off, Shopay who was hiding behind some bushes moved out and jumped on his shoulders like a honey-bagger. Fitte carries him on his back.
Fasah comes out, “Who is it?”
Maya, “Some fat fellow!”

At the S T A F F Q U A R T E R

Fitte rushes into the staff area surprising everyone. He goes down on his knees dropping Shopay, both laughing. He holds his mobile phone but couldn’t say a thing. Staff crowd realises he got caught.

At the B A R

John approaches, wearing white suite and hat, “Gin Tonic!”
Poko (barman), “Double?”
John, “Single,” softy spoken.
Poko pours a peg in the bottom of the glass and John carries to the beach.
Lucky enters the bar (behind counter) with red bucket, “Party time…”
Poko glances, “Huh!” he cups a cocktail to shake. Lucky hangs the red bucket on the tap and pours a bucket full of keg beer.
John comes in, “A double!” he smiles. He has taken off his coat and hat, half-unbuttoned shirt.
Poko pours a double and John carries to the beach. Keg beer pours to top the bucket.
Shopay slips behind the bar counter and steal a bottle of C put under his pants.
Poko asks, “Whose party?”
Lucky, “The girls…”
John stumbles by the counter and shouts, “Poko, another, Gin Tonic, on the rocks!” he has no shirt.
Poko fills and John goes to the beach. Lucky carries the bucket out of the bar.

On the B E A C H

Moment later, John stands in the middle of the barbequing crowd, singing and playing guitar, he holds the glass in his one hand and a joint in the other. He wears a custom wrap – fàli, of a typical islander. A merry crowd on beach, Jackie, Monica, Manager, Fasah, Maya…keep passing the smoke.

Shopay has depleted half bottle, in his bed. Lucky, Koi, Doni, staff dip mugs into the bucket drinking beer (outside the room). Shopay pours water to top up the bottle C. Its content turns white, he didn’t know.
Fitte removes the bulb, “I’ll show them, wild boys, what they fall into…” and he drops in bed in his red pyjamas.
Koi returns to his room, switches on the light, “No light!” others behind…
Lucky says, “Blackout!”
Koi recalls Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther movie, “Pink Panther!” he climbs a bed and puts his finger into the live bulb-holder. Electricity strikes…circuit breaks off and he was lucky.
Fitte asks, from bed, “Are you normal?”
Lucky, “We’re normal, this is just normal…” spoken English.
Shopay, “You get killed…” also English.
Doni, “Fitte! Get down and fix the light!”
Fitte, “I won’t.” he starts deep snores in bed.
