She faded away
into the mists of time
misremembered
misplaced
a memory of having been
But what was it?
a life bent out of shape
buckled at the strongest point
rusted remnants
This could be welded surely
mended, smoothed, patched
not whole and good
But always weakest
at the join.

Your poems step off so lightly at the end. Great skill.
