The Moon is a Red Sliver

The moon is a red sliver,
though it may not always be,
I can't help thinking "It's thinner,
Its red beauty harder to see."
The moon is a red sliver
and for some reason that makes me sad.
That to be pretty it needs to be smaller
so that its color may be grand.
But the moon's not always small
at the same time it is red.
It can look like a nice round ball
and still be red in the end.
The moon is a silver sliver
So tiny in the sky.
It doesn't like to glimmer
instead, it often appears shy.
Is the moon okay
when it retreats behind our earth?
Cowering in its dark shade
until it has rebirth.
Does the moon feel lonely
when it separates us from moonlight?
Does it become sad, dark, and lowly
When it hides in shadows, out of sight?
Does the moon yearn to return to us,
or does it enjoy those times alone?
Those moments it gets, alone to adjust,
To take a break from being well-known.
The silver moon, coming from hiding,
is it brave or ruined inside?
To return to the center stage lighting
and be put on display as a guide.
What did the moon have to overcome
To be what it is today?
To become a red sliver, a beacon of hope
For everyone who sees its display.
The moon is a red sliver
and even though its day,
I'm glad the moon decided to glitter
It's red-like cratered boquet.
