These are my submissions for 'A story in 55 words'. I like 'Little Grey
Cell' best. Two are derivative - to understand 'Ultimate Answer
II' you have to have read some science fiction.
Lapse of Memory
Carten grinned "It's done - all our vital information, CIA stuff, all
the great books, government records - everything - stored on one
microchip. The originals have been destroyed and all records offices
cleared. " "Great!" said the President "now - are you sure you left it
on my desk?"
Lucky encounter
"Thank you for helping me with that puncture at the station", said the
girl, "the least I could do was invite you back for a drink". The young
man stood behind her as she continued. "Especially as this local killer
seem to have a knack of finding easy victims". She turned round,
smiling.
The Little Grey Cell
Poirot was puzzled. The room was sealed, the victim had been alone.
Body parts lay over the floor - how had he died? Poirot stroked his
moustache, musing at his reflection in the shining steel discs of the
strange machine. Shaking his head, he absently leaned his cane on what
looked suspiciously like a switch.
The Ultimate Answer II
The last man on earth sat in his cave, finishing the ultimate computer.
A shadow fell across the cave opening and a sweet voice said "Honey, I
just discovered a rejuvenating plant that's turned me into a 21-year
old girl again!" He turned slowly, dropped his computer, exclaiming
"then there is a God!"
