NO COUNTRY FOR A YOUNG WOMAN

We took a private vigil for Sarah Everard who was brutally murdered.
My mother on the phone warns me about meeting with friends in the park. We both are angry of police officers' handling of young women attending the vigil. I tell her that I fear we are heading for a draconian regime where by my daughter's right for protesting against violance to women would be taken away in the future or worse she might be subjected to police brutality herself. Mother is more optimistic.Optimistic about civil liberties though still concerned about my habit of wandering in ancient woodlands with a friend or alone sometime. A writer's habit die hard. Quite reflection is the remedy for lack imagination, I mutter to no other than myself later on.
My sister whose birthday was yesterday had the oxford vaccine. She underplayed the side effects, though other sources said she had felt sick for a day. Personally, I don't object feeling sick for a day or two or three. For covid is nasty!
Later, I would apply for jobs in a frenzy while nursing my swollen knee. Expecting another call from my doc. Hoping for physiotherapy. Who knows even pilates might be an option in the near future!
Or even moving out of the country. But where to go? Perhaps sunny LA where democrats rule the roost. Politically, I feel even more pessimistic about the future of UK which I call home. My motherland is even worse. It seems it will be ruled by the same facist dictator forever. Covid made it even worse. No civil liberties to speak of now and the death toll is higher than the sky back in motherland.
Husband is interviewing for another job today. He resigned from his current IT job. So that we can both breathe a little. Both the kids seem happy to be back to school though a little bit tearful when they don't get their own way.
Son demanded 100 pounds from the father for estimating the square root of Pi by using his own ingeniues method. They settled for fifty pence in the end which was a relief.
It is newrous this weekend so that I must get on with colouring eggs for my kids later on today. Another newrous without my mother? Though she is cheerful this year.
