OCTOBER
WITH A DIFFERENCE
Sunlight
span in Gossamers
In
October.
Winter is
just around the corner.
Dahlias
sing a dulcet song
Yet! Yet!
Yet.
Rosehips
spin their hips: unashamedly ruby!
To the
candy-floss wind.
Pumpkins
of orange hues-
Burn!
Burn! Burn in suburban gardens.
Tourmaline
fields of Peckham:
All
senses gratified.
Apples of
trees entice!
Awaiting
to be crushed into pastes.
Yet time
doesn't await no-one nor October.
The
winter of drizzle is around the corner.
Cinnamon
scents, mulled wines, wide smiles on little faces
On
Christmases to compensate.
Every
cloud has a silver lining!

You capture the mellowness of the cooling, shortening days, and the mixture of winter with its indoor warmth. You caught me in your first line! Rhiannon
