Poverty

Poverty echoes everywhere, in every corner of our beloved homeland, the Philippines. Grief-stricken bodies from young to old, even those fragile souls still in their mothers' wombs experience such deprivation. It is no longer a truth we can ignore or hide, we as Filipino people and concerned citizens see the dying nation that was once prosperous. Our unfortunate fellow citizens suffer from too much of not having anything while those ''fortunate'' ones up the ladder of fame and corruption indulge themselves with the steaming luxuries from others' blood and sweat. Children's bones stick out from their bodies while their hungry faces seek out food which only their parents can dream of. Poverty in its many froms can never be mistaken from another. I don't think God meant for these people to suffer and bear such growing pain, He did not create man to live in pain. They say blessed are the poor, but I won't nod to this creed when I know and I see that more than a million lives suffer in our very own soil. It is not a blessing for anyone to eat only once or twice a day. It is never a blessing for anyone to die of hunger never knowing how wonderful life can be if only there is more...
