In Between
I stand within time zones
the one with its technical data
and metallic intelligence,
its movements like silent clatter in isolation,
separating with invisible borders
and another, unaltered over centuries
only changed by the forces of nature,
wind, rain and sun, prostrate
to unite in togetherness
and invite reflection, meditation and wonder.
Faced with a view over vast plains, inner voices
whisper and argue, allow thoughts
to delve and penetrate soaked grounds.
Layer upon layer of ancient script
now made unreadable,
can only be deciphered in fragments.
But it still keeps pleading for its origin to be sustained.
Go beyond these bare rocks, these tawny soils,
these hills and valleys of convex and concave curves,
the silver lining of horizons,
collected in childhood days with skies
still unblemished by current men-made clouds.
I know about space now,
higher than the toppled towers of Babylon,
filled with metallic artificial birds that fly near planets
boasting AI power while relentlessly reciting pride
in ever increasing knowledge to conquer the stars.
