I like the way that the fence plank features as much in your poem as the bird and the meal do. Setting the scene helps the tale to unfold in the imagination.
I hope by now it's been rewarded with the stain.

Good words. I can see vividly the scene both inside and outside of the café, feel the atmosphere and smell the smells.
