“See you later,” I said to Red Star. I stood up, picked up my suitcases and joined the other three girls as we followed Miss Burnout out of the hall, and straight ahead, up a flight of stairs.
The woman got up on the stage, where she was joined by another woman, with ginger hair pulled back into a ponytail. All of us girls seated ourselves into the chairs.
Mum stopped the car, and took my suitcases out of the boot. She wheeled them over to the line of girls for me. “Now, you have a nice term, won’t you, and I’ll see you at Christmas. Bye!”
