Wait!
On the
precipice.
Look down, slow down:
try for muscle memory,
flexion in the knees.
Jump!
Go on,
it’s only
thirty feet to
the powdery safety
across the airy void.
Whump!
It’s white.
Night? The stars
are out, it seems.
Mouth tastes of cold as
the icy snow melts in it.
A mostly
felicitous
landing: still alive.
