Will you listen to me? (Rhetorical Question) (12th Dec 2008, 11.23pm)
Can I have your attention, please?
Stand up straight, fall to your knees:
find your comfortable level
as I attempt to seize
the moment in front of you.
Could you lend me your ears?
Mind, body, fears, everything in between;
Don’t make a scene: I haven’t
asked for money,
just an honourable mention.
Will you listen to me?
Hear me above your own agenda,
as I denounce the splendour
of your sweet achievement:
you were so proud of winning.
Do you give a damn about it?
I see you, watching the television
in the smuggery of oblivion;
my sins fall on deaf ears
as I continue to get away with it.
All I wanted was your censure.
What price shall I pay for punishment?
Your silence is enough for me;
I’ll make do and mend it,
settle it with myself as usual.
