Cat's Eye

The wild cat's dark eyes looked up to the moon
Hoping to find a family soon.
He stalked through the grass, tall and green,
With paws so swift and dark eyes so keen.
Stopping every now and then,
Pricking his ears high to listen.
The quiet of the night did not stop the cat
Who never stopped to sleep, who never even sat.
He needed a family, that was his biggest wish,
Strong enough to catch every mouse and fish.
But dawn was coming extremely fast.
The darkness of the night wasn't going to last.
He thought all hope was completely gone
When his darkened eyes saw the light of dawn.
But then the cat heard a distant sound
That seemed to come from behind a dirt mound.
He walked towards the noise, and what did he see?
A group of cats! He meowed with glee.
His search was over, he was no longer alone.
And from that day on, his eyes always shone.
