Mistress Untamed (2nd February, 2009, 12.38pm)
Did you think you could cut me with the
subtle knife of sweet emotion?
This ain’t a marriage, Baby, you’re not
playing with devotion.
I’m not your wife! Small mercies abound;
you’d soon drown in the ocean of tears
I’d rain if I let you reign over head and heart.
Stop fooling around! Look at the time!
Run along home to Mama now, quickly,
put your kids to bed; kiss them warmly on
the forehead, Papa, your hypocrisy’s been
filling your bed; hard to swallow really,
a bit tart…oh no, that’s me, the happy, chirpy
homewrecker…Don’t you start!
Don’t worry about me, darling; I don’t need
spoiling or disarming for Valentine’s;
feel free to spend it just the way you like
between my thighs; just as long as the drinks
keep coming, I promise, so will I. I don’t want
late excuses; no need to explain. I’ll wait ten
minutes at the bar only, then seek a new game.
Divorce? It’s not my grail; every time,
without fail, I’ll send you home when I’m
done; this is just for fun, let’s keep that clear.
You can keep the broken promises; the
diamonds and the ‘dears’. Remember,
I’m not the woman of your dreams; let’s call
this what it is: a temporary end to unmet needs.
