Cremated

Boom.
And that was it.
Over in a second.
A house full of memories.
A family full of hope.
No room, no letters, no fish and chips.
All over a colour,
Of somebody’s skin.
A fire so unbeatable.
By the time it was over.
They’d already gone.
Nothing more than a sprinkle of dust.
Scattered amongst belongings.
Dead and cremated, all in one day.
No funeral, no plans, no real goodbye.
Dead and that was it.
Cremated over nothing.
A mother.
A father.
A teenage girl.
A newborn baby.
And their dog.
Dead and cremated, all in one day.
All over a colour,
Of somebody’s skin.
