Silent departure.

I mourn for the tiny heartbeat. That is now
Still in your shrunken stomach
I cry for the soft, downy face that never saw the sunlight.
The gentle caress
Of your touch
That can never be felt
The baby that once was and will never be again
A death. You must mourn alone
Your lover has left you
Bleeding on the carpet
No funeral for the
Embryo.
No tailored coffin can be made. For this spirit
It is an unholy beginning
And a sinful end to a life unfulfilled.
Ungodly creature
Growing inside you. Screaming within you.
Pushing itself outward
Ripping. Tearing. Wailing
Always wailing.
You will not talk. Shaken only by the mention
Of baby.
But it haunts you like a dream
The unforgotten memory
Your death. It's death.
Two heartbeats beat in time. Rhythm broken
By unfortunate events
That turn you into the shivering wreck
That you are today.
You are wailing.
Always wailing.
The mother that you never were
For the father that he did not become.
I mourn for the life that I did not
Care to mention. Care to ask about.
Now you suffer alone
The scene of a murder held within you
Why did you not speak out?
Child of such innocent notions.
