A New You

What is happiness
but butter on hot toast;
You rush to spread it,
It tastes so good,
yet it melts away so quickly.
What is belief
but the mind attaching
to a cause the heart desires;
It warms with every reinforcement
and aches when contradicted.
What is the soul
but the misty self
shadowing all you do;
Clear in it's needs
but unclear how to get there.
What is hope
but the anchor of all dreams
adrift in a sea of belief;
It guides the soul in it's quest,
mindlessly searching.
What is the heart
but a stream of unwanted feelings;
beating relentlessly
until one day we feel no more;
no more pain ;no more fear.
What is life
but the interaction with a believing world,
the divine destruction of the self
and the ultimate release of the hopeful soul
to pastures new...
What is death
but a new you.
