SEPERATED AT BIRTH (I.P.)

Taken from my mother, the moment I was born
Although we're separated, I'd ask you not to mourn;
You needn't be downhearted, don't weep for me I beg
For mother was a chicken, and I am but an egg.
Don't worry that they took me, and shut me in a box
I had my shell to shield me, to spare me from life's knocks;
The processing, the packaging, my god what a chore
But there were others with me, in fact eleven more.
Over time they've left me, they've vanished one by one
Again I'm separated, life's not a lot of fun;
The fridge door slowly opens, it seems my time has come
It's what I was laid for, so please do not feel glum.
Someone's turned my insides out, I tell you it's no joke
Again I'm separated, my egg white from my yolk;
I'm going to be a soufflé (much to my surprise)
To this final challenge, I hope I truly rise.
