Bitter Taste (1st March, 2010, 4.15pm)
Suck on the moment’s bitter taste
Dye has been cast, cannot erase
I’ll mark the changes in my brain
With sharp regrets and exiled pain
There was a time I’d haunt the truth
But now the weight would burden you
I’ll sew my lips with friendship’s cords
Lest spoken words might end our course
This is what you’ve laid at my door
This is what you’ve burdened me with
And once she knows, will she be sore?
And once she knows, can she forgive?
Righteousness and morality
Devil so heavy, bending me
Broken, the path that I once sought
In fateful balance, I lay caught
This is the end of all good things
And now Time with its darkened wings
Is beating me and shadows out
The beast in me, suppress my doubt
This is what you’ve laid at my door
This is what you’ve burdened me with
And once she knows, will she be sore?
And once she knows, can she forgive?
I itch, I burn, I crave to shout
Unzip my skin and let this out
Set the cats after the pigeons
No hell hope of ever winning
Heaven waits, her breath abated
Her angels lend me their restraint
No drink now will have me sated
All I have is my burning faith
This is what you’ve laid at my door
This is what you’ve burdened me with
And once she knows, will she be sore?
And once she knows, can she forgive?
