Psychological Energies

If you want to make a soft boiled egg you must half fill the pan with water, place the egg in and then using heat energy begin to boil the water for about 4 minutes.
Simple, well almost; sometimes it’s under boiled sometimes its over. The results all depend on the amount of energy used and the timescale it’s boiled in.
Now consider everything we see and hear around us is our heat energy and the life’s we live are our timescales.
Psychological Energy I have defined as the consequences of our actions and inter actions with the conscious and unconscious world around us.
This PE can be positive and more and more often these days, it can be negative. The trouble with PE is that its consequences hold no limits. Everything we do can lead to various different outcomes. All governed by negative or positive PE. An obvious example of this in Britain is the occurrence of road rage; One driver without any malice or intention just happens to be driving cautiously slow along a road, and at the same time a second driver who happens to be late for a meeting through no fault of their own is obstructed by driver one. Without even considering the consequences driver two loses their temper and unleashes a volley of negative PE. Normally nothing more comes of this and in many ways it is healthy for driver 2 to get this rage out of their system.
However when there is a lot of concentrated psychological energy focused on a mass population it is only a matter of time before there is a conclusion to the consequences. These days there is so much mass media control in our life’s it is hard to believe that we were once capable of living our own life’s in our own communities without outside state interference. It wasn’t long though before there was a need for the government to step in and govern minds.
The government wants us to rely on them, if we didn’t they would have no power over us. So they use PE to manipulate the people into social units. When each of us are born and registered we are then entered into the state and assigned a national insurance number. This is then used by the state to loan money in our names under the guise of national debt. We are then part of the system. We are not taught about this in schools nor are we given any choice in this matter. Instead we enter a world of smoking mirrors. A world of celebrity magazines; adverts for useless products and irrelevant headlines about irrelevant people’s lives. A world of crooked politicians with dodgy expenses, mass media panic from AIDS in the 80’s to CBD in the 90’s and more recently bird flu and the big one swine flu. More than 10’000 people die of flu in the UK each year (official figure from DoH is higher). Yet this goes on unnoticed cause it is mainly old folks and poor people who die from it. Then there is alcohol related illness and death, but hey its fun right……
It is no coincidence that most bars and clubs in any given town are owned by large corporate chains and breweries. It is because we have been mass trained to just look the other way while corporate giants swallow up all the locally owned commodities. Psychological energy has the potential when used by the individual; to resist all the things that we know are wrong in the world. But ignoring problems is not harnessing PE, instead it is just reflecting the PE from mass media which tells us to ignore life’s real problems and focus on the fairy tale world; A world away from real family and local community. Instead we are invited into the world of celebrity gossip and pointless capitalist gain.
The problem we have now with the global recession means more people are waking up from the state created bubble of bliss. This negative psychological energy is spreading around the country and as recession deepens more negative PE will follow. It will come in the form of nationalism with parties such as the BNP gaining favour, or risings of so called people power such as the English Defence League.
A small proportion of the youth of today have no moral guidance so instead follow the PE of the collective. They are willing to go to any lengths to get rich. Since they have been let down by the education system they turn to a life fuelled by drugs and crime.
There will also be a mass of educated youth who will feel let down by the system and become radicalised and only time will tell this outcome.
For anyone reading this the only point I will stress is that you are potentially an individual and any choices you make are individually yours however consider your choices because they are all influenced by psychological energies and thus the outcome will create more psychological energy.
When I speak of energy try to understand that this is not an actual force that can be seen or measured as with energy sources in the true sense of the word, instead I use it as a metaphor to describe potential actions arising from certain situations.
For example one man may be sat at home watching his favourite football team lose to another local town, he then stores this negative PE to the back of his mind. He has been drinking during this time so his inhibitions are wearing down, he decides to venture outside and have a smoke, upon which his neighbour arrives home, who happens to not be a football fan, knowing this and at this same time without knowing that this process is happening he directs his disappointment towards his neighbour. Now in normal circumstances this would not be the case, instead a friendly bit of banter would arise and diffuse his PE, but consider that two days earlier the same two neighbours had got into a silly argument over the bush that they share and who’s turn it is to cut it. Thus more negative PE flowing into the minds of one another. It is easy to imagine various outcomes to these types of situations and at the same time to understand how small meaningless bouts of negative PE can accumulate in the minds of people thus setting off a chain of events.
So psychological energy in the sense I have defined it is a process of unconscious actions arising from situations that we face in our daily lives, although the above example is a negative one there are also positive ones.

This is written as short introduction to get your mind ticking over.
