8 bricks

I grew up in a small shack on the border of a desert. This is the story of my search for enlightenment.
Preparing myself for a great journey of enlightenment was no easy task
I would only take what I needed with me on this great trek.I bought 8 bricks at the market and a backpack to carry them in:
Upon these bricks I wrote joy trust fear surprise sadness disgust anger anticipation
These were all the nourishment I needed for this trek so I packed them on my back and headed out into the desert:
After walking into the sun for several hours I discovered A growing thirst which did not disappear but grew with each step.
I recognised this as my first test and stopped to pull a brick from my pack.Anger.
I threw the brick into the sand and proceeded to scream at the sun for hurting me, and making me thirsty and hot.I let it all out and in truth I felt better after a few minutes so I took up my pack and proceeded over the next dune.
In front of me was an oasis and I realized then that my anger had been completely unneccesary. With quick strides I came to the pool and sliding forward on my belly ,lowered my lips to the water.I hesitated when I noticed a snake watching me from the reeds across the pond.
Standing again I removed another brick from my pack.trust
I drank my fill of water while casually watching the snake who simply watched me back from the shade of the reeds.Had several of my other emotions come out it might have turned out differently for both of us.
Hoisting my pack again I noticed it was somewhat lighter as I proceeded out of the oasis. Before long I found myself leaving the desert and entering hills, which grew taller and offered me some shade. (to be continued)
