I am in a nightmare
no neon way out
locked in
the door slides shut
I start to pray...

But I awake
feeling sick
it was only a dream
an ironic reflection
of a tripping life
on a damaged brain

So vivid, scary
touching, stark
I want to laugh
but inside I scream

Frightening images
TV pictures
portray reality
of this life
I will go to sleep
but not to dream

I must accept
and comprehend
this is me now
it's who I am

the door slides shut.

I like the use of modern imagery like the TV, the neon light, sliding doors. It creates an eerie and damaging atmosphere.

I am so glad you liked it Maggy, it is based on a really horrid nightmare I had, the atmosphere was as you describe, it is funny how the mind plays tricks with you, because aspects of the nightmare had obviously come from my reality.
