My cats

My cats
Some years ago we got two cats
Well they were kittens really
They were pretty little creatures
And we knew we’d love them dearly
One of them was tabby
The other black and white
The last two brothers from the litter
They were a lovely sight
But what were we to call them
Our minds were in a whirl
So we got some friends to help us
They asked are they boys or girls?
They both are hims we stated
To which our friends replied
So call them Ancient and Modern
Then laughed until they cried
The black and white cat was the first
Whose name came to our minds
A black moustache meant Adolf
But we thought that was unkind
We ended up with Groucho
Of the Marx brothers fame
But the other one was tabby
So we couldn’t do the same
We bandied cat names back and forth
Some wouldn’t pass the censor
We said Groucho, Groucho Marx a lot
Until finally the penny dropped
And triumphantly at the same time
We both cried Groucho Marx and Spencer.
