Cracked stones, sombre and burning
Burning with grief, with rage at loss.
Innocent lips, parting the eyes
Raised to meet the albatross.
Icy trees capped with thunder
Sheltering festering fugitives.
Clawing the rock face, trying to reach
The place where the sum of all deities lives.
This barren land, where lies a beast
The Rhythm driving crazy men mad.
It drills the land and drills the head
Of the people who poison the good and the bad.
The Drums are here, the Drums have come
The Drumming is filling the land to the top.
They rule the land and kill it still
We know the Drums will never stop.

Amazing. The similarities
Amazing. The similarities (in image and metaphor) to “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”. I am sure it was really quite by accident. Your effort reminds much of the ballad, allthough is extremely condensed.
Good work the same! Excellent!

My pleasure always Morwenna.
My pleasure always Morwenna. And reminds me of the time men were drilling a borehole across the street. Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! I don't know what they were trying to do. I was still sleeping and it just kept on it wouldn't stop.
My stepdad said I got out of bed and was shouting at the men and at the thump-thump machine waving my fist I can't remember it at all. All I remember was extreme discomfort. The thumping just carried steadily on and on for hours I swear it was deliberate- like in your poem.
By the way where is Siliconia?
Best wishes & Nolan

Of course! But I'd hoped for
Of course! But I'd hoped for something more original. A bit of fantasy? Something like “It is the Island of Drummers in the River of Dreams between your heart and mine, dumdum! dumdum! BOOM! BOOM!”
All the best & Nolan
