COULD THIS BE PARADISE?

As we venture out along the coastline
so rugged and wild steeped in history,
hills and fields sloping up and down
give us an awe-inspiring view of the sea,
as a result of curiosity I venture
near the edge of the cliff,
I could not believe my eyes
a small canvas tent perched on a ledge
exposed to a steep drop,
very daring I thought,
wild flowers bask in the intense sunshine
many species uncultivated not seen
anywhere else, a beautiful blue sky
not a cloud to be seen,
bee's are buzzing collecting their nectar
while blue butterflies kiss and flirt
with the flowers, moving soft and lightly
as if in a trance,
fine gossamer spider webs wrap around
prickly, thorny brambles and
tall grass shooting up through the earth,
a spider waits to catch an intruder
that is flying by,
a flowing body of water trickles
from out of the hillside
clear, fresh, uncontaminated,
as it's flowing we cup our hands
and quench our thirst
watching as it meanders down to the sea,
then slowly we once again
go on our way,
with the heat of the day
taking its toll on our energy,
we long for the shade
of the local inn to rest and take a meal
at the end of a glorious day.
