A quiet day with Jennifer Jane 3/7

“I expect you’d like a hand carrying that lot when you go to the Witches’ Home,” said Dave, pointing to the bags full of bicycle saddles. I tell you what, we could all go there now in the lugger, help you with the delivery, arrange a trip to see Megan’s new baby and easily be back home by this afternoon.”
Everyone thought this was a good idea, so they trooped along to Wilfred’s pool carrying the bags between them. Wilfred was crying happily into the water, while he tried to imagine what the goblins would be bringing him for his dinner today.
He stopped crying for a moment, as they walked round to the quayside on the bank opposite him and began taking the covers off Misty Magic.
“Off for a sail?” he asked.
“Only to the Witches’ Home, we’re going to give the apprentices some bicycle saddles like mine, so that they’ll find broom riding a bit more comfortable.”
Wilfred waved goodbye as the lugger sailed out into the stream and hoped there’d be roast potatoes with his meal. He liked roast potatoes, especially if there was a lot of gravy. He enjoyed scooping the soft bit out of the middles, mashing them to soak up the gravy and then eating the crunchy bits afterwards.
“We’ve brought the saddles I promised for my friends,” said Jennifer Jane, as Abigail came across the lawn to meet them, “where would you like me to leave them?”
“I think the best place would be in the workshop with Robert, after all he’ll be the person who has to fix them on everyone’s broom!”
Mary and Dave carried the bags into the workshop between them, while Jennifer Jane rushed off to find Maddy and tell her the good news. By the time she returned to say that the apprentices wouldn’t be allowed out of class until after lunch, Dave had arranged the visit to see Megan and Abigail had already sent for Frosty’s cloud.
The whole family, including Abigail, climbed on board the cloud as soon as it arrived. Dave was particularly interested in the route they took.
“This is the way to travel,” he laughed, “look at all the poor devils down there stuck in that traffic jam!”
Much sooner than he expected, the cloud began to descend and the passengers got off and started walking towards the cave. Megan carefully put her head outside to see who was coming and then walked out proudly to meet them. Jennifer Jane could just see a brown coloured baby dragon peeping out between her mother’s legs.
