A Rumour of Summer

I heard a rumour that
Summer stopped by today
She came for breakfast and lunch
But didn’t stay for tea
She said she had places to go, you know-
Sunnier climes to visit
Always a globe trotter, our summer
They invited her back
And she promised to return soon
When the weather is right
