Blues in Bflat

When I was a kid I watched BB King
It blew my mind how he made ‘Lucille’ sing.
I wrote my first real song right after that
Messed around with keys and found I loved B flat.
We worked the song halfway through the night.
Wound up wishin’ Roy could hit the B flat right.
A chick at the bar was reading a book,
Roy started giving her his ‘sex god’ look,
It didn’t work in grade school and it don’t work now
It’s a cross between a ‘gator and a moon faced cow.
Me and the band are playin’ real tight
Still waiting for Roy to hit the Bflat right
Now Roy's a good old boy and I don't mean to get uptight
but it would fill my heart with joy to get that B flat right
Playin’ the blues is a losing game,
The old guys are dying and the young ain’t the same
It’s more than notes and chords and time
It’s blood and sweat and it’s a friend of mine
I love the blues but I get uptight
Wishin’ Roy would hit that B flat right.
