Borders of Sleep: Nightmare I.P.
By L G Meadows
- 1734 reads
I have come to the borders of sleep
And slip in a land that exists
Only in my mind
I walk in shadow swept valleys
Long forgotten memories
Hiding in the crevices
Come creeping out
Scurrying before me
A flash and they are gone
I reach out to them
But they become molecules in the mist
Languidly, I walk on
Listless, no path to guide me
Wandering here and there
Making no connections
Yet eerie feelings of having been there before
Gradually, I come to a rise
Elated, I float effortlessly over it
Only to be plunged again
Into a deeper pit
Hounded now by night terrors
I stumble into a stream
Swept with the flotsam and jetsam
Fighting against the current
Of my subconscious memory
I surface on the opposite shore, relieved
I have again come to the borders of sleep
