To You I give My Love * A Little One to Shine

While all around a
whirlwind of life,
hands reaching out
so clenched really
tight, ready and able
putting up a fight,

eyes shut - equilibrium
once more restored...
as on each breath taken
there's release of pain,

the heart beats echo...
waves drift in and out
relentless and free are
coming like whispers on
a soft gentle breeze...

happiness giving life...
face moist with teardrops
skin once smooth alabaster,
now glowing incandescent
pushing forward - scarlet
ever forceful - determined,

suffering it could never be
but unique and special...
like the simple promise of
rain to come, the aftermath
of the intense heatwave -

finding those hands
squeezing so tight
shouting with gusto
rhythms take flight,

remembering those words,
*a little one to shine*
holding on so tight the
little mite...for lifes
blood did run from this
came an only son,

so perfect...complete,
milk started flowing
like a river of dreams
to suckle and sustain,

no more to cry those
endless tears shed,
heavy eyes closed...
tightly shut - chaos -
madness and fear left
so far behind, now all
that's left is a warm
caress, safe in the
knowledge of sleep...
To you I give my love.

Oh I remember when my children were newborn- lovely- where does the title come from- ? A song? I'll have to read it again to fully understand , I think! ;)Pia Oh yes it is beautiful-. as only a mother can express it- thank you for a wonderful read Jenny- (maybe you should leave out 'small'- and just write 'little mite'?)

Very emmotive and lots of great imagery. I also felt the rhythm moved me onwards and upwards. Uplifting. Hello John, I'm glad you picked up on the passion, I think that having a baby can produce so many different feelings for a woman, almost like a recipe of ingredients thrown together, producing so much emotion, it's hard to describe, but I did try with this poem. Having been through childbirth myself, I tried to pick up on those feelings. I really do appreciate you reading and leaving a comment. I hope you are having a peaceful Sunday. Jenny.

Ah, Jenny - there is nothing quite as magical as a newborn baby, is there? Especially when it's your own - I miss the smell, to be honest - babies have a certain smell, don't they? I used to spend hours sticking my nose to their fluffy little scalps and breathing it in, this poem brought it all back for me, so beautifully put and I bet you're a fantastic mother, if this poem alone is anything to go by :) Brilliant, I love it, and definitely one of my favourites of yours :) Rachel xx

Dear Rachel, thankyou so much for reading this piece. I have to admit to agreeing with you about babies, yes they do have a special little smell. I remember just after having my son and holding him, I really didn't want to let him go, I just lay there, looking and talking to him, telling him about his bedroom and all the walks I would take him on, its just one of those things I suppose every mother does.
