Creepy-crawlies

I do like bugs*,
and snails and slugs,
but slugs are slimey to hold in your hand,
and bugs are tickley, and may defend
themselves, by a nip or sting,
and it’s easy to damage a leg or wing, –
so maybe it’s best not to catch, just watch
beetles, or worms, or aphids small:
6 legs, more, or none at all:
they wriggle, or scuttle, creep, or crawl,
fly, or slither, jump, or run,
or sit, like the spider on the web it’s spun.
Yes, I even like spiders that are big and fat –
but people don’t like to see them roam
around the ceilings and walls of my home, –
I have to evict them off the floor,
out they go through the window or door;
and if there’s a house-fly, mosquito or gnat,
I’m afraid I have to swat it flat.
*loose definition: any insect or crawling animal.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I like this poem - or do you call it that with it being in prose foremat?
But I certainly don't like slugs - who eat all my beans and even lots of my flowers this year, despite slug pellets all around.
But I don't mind spiders at all.
