The Garden
I will do my best to cultivate
the garden of my mind
remove the weeds of hate
pull up the roots of words unkind
Sow it with seeds of love and strength
build the borders from words wise
and plant flowers of hope along each length
and use friendship and song to fertilise
I'll tend the blooms of passion
with careful, gentle touch
And water them with a ration
of laughter, joy and such
And the colours of the flowers and tree
in green and yellow, red and blue
passers by will stop and see
then say, “in my own garden, this I'll do”
And year on year the Garden grows
I too grow older like the trees
My smile grow wider, because I know
this garden is the soul of me

Hi there BT Gorman,
just read this poem and thought it was so beautiful.
I like the idea you have associated the garden with
the mind, they kind of relate to each other so well.
I think a lot of thought has gone into this poem.
Thankyou for sharing.
Jenny.
