MOON MARINER

Moon Mariner, Moon Mariner, sailing all alone
Through the weather-patterned sky
Looking for a home.
My love he sailed a ship so white upon a velvet sea;
So he put on the cloak of night to find Infinity.
And he has made a suit of gold that shimmers like the sun;
And through the archways of the night his shining ship has gone.
_ _ _ Moon Mariner, pale Moon Mariner.
Moon Mariner, Moon Mariner, voyage without end
Through the rainbow-patterned sky
Looking for a friend.
My love he saw cloud-citadels borne upwards on the wind;
He said the stars were far away, yet he could hear them sing.
And then he plumed his wings with fire and flew into the sun;
So watch with me, Moon Mariner, until the Dawn is come.
_ _ _ Moon Mariner, lone Moon Mariner.
Moon Mariner, Moon Mariner, flying like a dove
Through the jewel-patterned sky
Looking for her love.
For all her life, through all of time, she searches but in vain
Among the cloud-ships of the night through starlight and through rain;
And she so like a lonely pearl whose tears melt with the sea .......
While yet I know my own dear love will soon come home to me.
_ _ _ Moon Mariner, lost Moon Mariner, looking for her love,
_ _ _ Looking for her love ...........
