This is an attempt at a nonet. The first line is nine syllables, then each line decreases by a syllable until line 9 has only one syllable. It has been in all the news, the lies, the disgrace, the abandonment of passengers on the Costa Concordia.

The main thing about the nonet is its syllable count, but whether mine works as a poem or not I am not sure. Thanks for commenting Stan and SSS. I was astounded a captain could abandon passengers after his own misjudgements!
