Finch Continue to Dare

Finch continue to dare the rugby wind
to deter them from skipping
from one alder to another
their yellow flash distinctive
against the green
Lupins the only competition for a riot
of colour, their standard stretching
above the wild grass
daisies and buttercups peeking
upwards for a better view
and somehow issues within man’s
domain not quite as exciting, or
imaginative, nor peaceful. Their pinpricks
of nasty intentions dissolving in the beauty
set upon a platter of natural innocence.
