Wonderous Life

On your first birthday, you couldn't do much
You clapped and you giggled and sat on the hutch.
But soon on your third, you knew how to speak.
So innocent sounding, that shrill little squeak.
By the time you were six, you were off to your school
Learning letters and numbers, still thinking that's cool.
When you turned about seven, you played with your friends.
You played house and hotel, what you play, that depends.
When you were Eleven, you learned of the world.
The secrets of preteens and the wonders of girls.
From thirteen to fourteen, you drifted away.
You stuck with your friends, and your mood seemed to sway.
You matured soon enough, enduring your life
Packed with sports and exams, and of coarse all our strife.
Now your out of college, with a masters degree.
The cycle repeats itself, and now you've found the key.
We know you love us, as you always have shown
And now somebody new to love, a son of your own.
