One small step = one giant leap, his mother knows (IP?)

‘We reached the moon!’‘Let’s roam the skies!’
– it can’t be done, the vision dies.
Unrealistic goals depress,
enthusiasm getting less.
Don’t push that struggling child to run,
but praise that step – progress begun!
Your aims must not appear too hard,
or real attempts he may discard.
For that small step, his mother knows,
was like a giant leap (pride shows).
His challenges are great, but one
step at a time will cheer her son.
He hasn’t reached that far-off star,
but, effort great brought him thus far!
This was inspired by the aims of Portage work with families with under 5s who have some sort of problem. They encourage parents working in play towards small-step goals.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Lovely little poem, with a real message about praising the small goals that one manages. My youngest grandson is a slow developer, and we all are so pleased when he progresses.
