A relaxed ramble

Along the lane from Arthur’s Stone
[collapsed remains from times long gone,
some ‘cromlech’ ancient burial mound
once buried underneath the ground]
to Merbach hill, with blue-domed sky:
to left the Golden Valley of the Dore,
ahead and to the right, the Wye
meandering around we view from high
above the twists and oxbow lake – no more
a tightening loop, but ligatured by bypass –;
a quiet end of ridge for sheep, and scrub, and grass,
some scattered harebell clumps, will soon give way
to autumn fruit and colours, brief their stay,
of harvest stores of plenitude.
How many of you know this quiet spot?,
Come here to see, and hear and feel the calm and solitude,
– not all at once! or we will lose what we have got,
remote retreat from rowdiness, and rush and rubbish.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I don't know where Arthur's Stone is, but assume near you in the Welsh hills. First I thought it might be Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, but the location sounded too Welsh. Beautiful description.
