In a rush
Smile so wide
Press each number
With excitement
As butterflies
Fill my tummy
Hold it to my ear
One ring
Smile starts to fade
Excitement ceases
Butterflies fall asleep
Do you hear it
Or is it just a noise
As you look around

Echoing in my ear
As look at the numbers
Like a countdown
Till my world stops
Finger on the off button
No third ring
