Running and running, unsure for how long;
Or why, or where to and never what from.
We know only, forever, this rushing along.
Upward, onward and endless it seems -
Dashing through distance, time and our dreams -
Whirling legs growing slower and older
And crooked necks set over our shoulders.
Yet in this life of perpetual motion,
Distracted in its constant commotion,
It is only in finishing that we know instead;
That whatever pursued us is actually ahead.
