Betty

Betty was a very plain looking caterpillar.
She lived in a quiet field with lots of plants and trees.
One day, Betty was very hungry. Her tummy was roaring like a tiger.
Betty went to search for lots of food.
She stumbled upon a patch of dock leaves. Betty’s favourite food was dock leaves.
She ate and ate and ate until she was so full, she was going to burst!
All this eating had made Betty ever so tired. Betty wrapped herself up in a chrysalis and had a very long sleep.
This very long sleep was disturbed by a noisy wasp.
Betty woke up and had a big stretch. Something was very different about Betty.
All this sleep had turned her into the most beautiful butterfly!
Her wings were pink, with purple circles and bits of blue.
‘Wow’ said William Worm, ‘Betty the Beautiful Butterfly’.
Very happy, Betty went on a little trip and flew all around the trees.
Sally squirrel couldn’t believe her eyes, ‘Betty the Brilliant Butterfly!’ she said.
Past the river she went, and landed on a pretty flower. ‘Hello Florence Fly’ Betty whispered.
‘Gosh’ said Florence Fly in shock, ‘Betty the Bright Butterfly’.
It was now time for Betty to go home, what a lovely day.
