EUREKA

i had a test upcoming
and i tell you, i was scared
for math was not my forte
and i felt quite unprepared

a friend of mine approached me
and he said, "don't sweat it, man
for i am here to help you
and i have a special plan"

"you see this piece of gum here ?
it looks normal as can be
but it contains an enzyme
that will make your brain run free"

"this gum is named 'eureka'
its so new, not sold in stores
developed in a secret lab
to open up the doors"

"while chewing on 'eureka'
your IQ will start to grow
and while the flavor lasts
there ain't no telling what you'll know"

"because you are my dearest friend
i'm gonna give you two
unless the test runs overtime
that ought to get you through"

i thanked my friend profusely
and the next day at the school
i knew that i would ace the test
and not be made a fool

the test was placed in front of me
i quickly popped my gum
and i knew all the answers
straight into my brain would come

who knew there was a product
that would help me so i'd pass
about this time, my teacher
said, "you can't chew gum in class"

i looked up with eyes pleading
his expression left no doubt
in hand, he held a tissue
and i sadly spit it out

but when he turned his back to me
i popped the other piece
and chewed as softly as could be
in case he should police

the answers came so freely
all was clear inside my head
my mind like a computer
like my dearest friend had said

i scribbled quickly, for i feared
the gum would lose it's taste
i needed it's enhancement
and there was no time to waste

the test was nearly over
when the flavor of the gum
had dwindled down to nothing
and the answers wouldn't come

but most of it was finished
and i felt i would not sink
i'd done enough to pass it
now there was no need to think

and sure enough, i nailed it
i received a solid B
i went to thank my buddy
for the help he gave to me

but when i told the story
my good friend began to laugh
i asked him what was funny
he said, "you don't know the half"

"that gum was merely wrigley's
and it held no special charm
but if it gave you confidence
i felt it'd do no harm"

"there is no magic potion
that will elevate your mind
but when you boost your confidence
the answers you will find"

now, there are many wonders
as you walk life's crazy path
but if you find the strength within
you'll even conquer math
