I have to either leave my shop work, or loose a shed load of Xmas-time money over festive period at theatre. I work part time in shop, which l adore, but new boss changes my measly hours at a whim, therefore l am forced to cancel shows at theatre, and as we get paid per performance, it is doing my head in.
I can feel the anxiety as l go to start work on my till. Swipe in, open till, sort cash out. Ready to face the lovely folk who need my assistance. I can do that standing on my head, but it's upstairs lot that are the huge problem.
I am well liked and respected in both places l work. But. I can't carry on worrying and wondering just what times, days, hours l will be on Rota in daft shop. I only earn minimum wage, but l really love my colleagues and the guys who shop there.
Oh boy ..
Maybe you are thinking, 'who the feck cares, Denise. Piss off n write somethin' interesting', but l am struggling to deal with
1 .. don't know if l am working boxing day/New year, what time of the day or evening from one week to the next. Hard to book dentist, doc, holidays, ANYTHING
2 .. can't tell theatre manager of the many hundreds of shows coming up l can work, so may be left off the busy Xmas rota and have to beg for shifts
3 .. can not get my boss in the shop to care one way or another about any of her staff. We are there to cover her department, and bollocks to our pleas
That's why l haven't ever become a manager there, because its dog eat dog, and l ain't THAT hungry ..
