Silent spectator in ghostly light
The cold morning wakes you softly
Stirring from sleep
Leaving the solitude of night behind
The same but ever changing
Silouetted against a dove grey sky
Like some giant petrified coral
Left by a long forgotton sea
Many pass you by
But dont see
You like me
Roots,trunk,bough,brance
To the finest twig fingers
Whisp like receptors
Stretch and embrace the sky
The shy sun splits the cloud
Which turns liquid silver and gold
Laser beams of light
Fragment and splinter
Then burst into a thousand stars
Your leaves now fire to my eyes
A bitter un-forgiving wind
strips you of your Autumn cloak
leaves spin and swirl
Like exotic butterflies
Burnished gold,copper,reds
They scatter at your feet
Like excitable children
Forever speaking your ancient wisdom
You whisper to the breeze
Stories of old
