Home Made Pie

My cooking Teacher at school didn't like me. Mrs Morris just seem to dislike me for no reason at all. No one else in the class noticed, sometimes that's just how it is, you can be in a room full of people yet feel picked on, eventually it can wear you down. The good thing about cooking was we had something nice to bring home in our baskets, food that we didn't usually eat at home, and presented in a nice way.
Heather, was the female bully of the school. We were chalk and cheese, we got on well. I wasn't close to her but I was never her enemy, not once. I've watched her have many fights at school, she had arrived in the middle of the school term, she didn't know anyone or had any friends when she started our school, that's a big disadvantage. She soon got a bad name for herself, as a bully.
She was from a Foster Home. That's all I knew. She did something unusual that only a bully, of the school could do, she sucked her thumb! Now if you and I did that, we would get teased, but not her, at age 13 she still did!
For me the worst, or one of the worst things she often did, and she thought it was funny, when she was in a nice mood, she would shove her wet, shrivelled, soggy thumb into your mouth! She did this to me, once thankfully not all the way in, as my mouth was closed at the time, so it only went to the edge of my lips. Yuk! That made her laugh. I didn't get angry, I handled the situation carefully, and just said, “Heather” she laughed again. I've seen her do that many times to her enemies, her disgusting thumb all the way in their mouths, how much counselling would you need after that!
I had decided not to choose Cooking, when the time came for us to choose, as I couldn't bear Mrs Morris for all those lessons, so I chose woodwork instead, even though I really loved cooking.
Today we were cooking home-made meat pie, all the lovely fresh ingredients, mixed up into her bowl. Mrs Morris always cooked the food first, then we would go to our tables and with it still fresh in our memories we did the same as she had just shown us, she was still in the classroom to offer her support. The finished meat pie was placed onto lovely home made pastry and plated pastry on top, it was oblong. Mrs Morris took home the food she cooked, and we took home ours, a copy of hers.
We were all gathered around Mrs Morris as usual for her demonstration of the meat pie, we were in a semi-circle and the bowl was on the small table and Mrs Morris was behind the table. It looked and smelt wonderful! The onions, tomatoes, various herbs and spices that she had already added into her bowl, then Mrs Morris turned around to get one more ingredient to add to her lovely home made pie, it was then in a flash that Heather did the biggest spit I have ever seen into the bowl! Mrs Morris added her final ingredient into her bowl and mixed it up well.
No one dared, to tell her! Heather would have killed us! The finished pie looked amazing but all of us Students in the class saw what had happened, so it was a disgusting pie, and none of us would eat it even if we were offered.
Although I now wasn't keen on Mrs Morris, I didn't hate her, she had her reasons for hating me, that day I lingered after all the others had gone, and I told her what Heather had done. She thanked me for telling her.
She was nice to me after that, but I had chosen woodwork.
