STRANGELY DIM

when faced with nasty weather
that could tear my world apart
i think about your kindness
and your essence fills my heart
when forces rage around me
and i'm subject to their whim
you tame the blazing wildfires
till the flames are strangely dim
when mobbed by ugly people
speaking curses, threats and lies
i think about your beauty
and your image fills my eyes
when packs of beasts have treed me
and i'm far out on a limb
you still the angry voices
till their screams are strangely dim
when faced with snarling masses
who have lost all self control
i think about your goodness
and your honor fills my soul
when all the world's against me
and my pick of choices, grim
you soften all the scowling
till the glare is strangely dim
when searching on dark highways
where my legs are walking blind
i think about your courage
and your valor fills my mind
while slipping through the canyons
and my foot slips on the rim
you fill my path with brilliance
till no longer strangely dim
