purity
By cigarettes and scribbles
- 1784 reads
To live pure is to live honest;
to yourself. A life full of flavour is
the consequence of untainted living.
Drinking tea black, just tea leaves and milk
to living without influence; the poison so attractive
in following the crowd- in costume, the road to sin.
Hypocritical however, writing about this.
Reading, do you find my words, my emotion? or,
the emotion and words of another party
just rewritten, performed in another medium.
As Lord Henry said; “All influence is immoral” to
Dorian Gray- versed by Wilde- one influence of mine.
the stepping stones he has placed.
What can you trust? Poetry, lyric, novel?
With influence is the evaporation of soul.
Empty lines, a blank canvas- transparent of meaning.
Exaggerated for effect, this poem may not be pure,
the intention however, a reflection of what’s inside,
I’m sure.
