My lads footy team (when they were young)

The Boys From Wadsley Bridge

There was a group of lively lads, who just wanted to play….
They started in a different team, who’s name we cannot say!!!

But now they’re in a new team… they play in black and blue
And here are just a few lines to describe the boys to you:

The goalkeeper is Alex… the joker of the group
It’s great how he can save the ball, whilst drinking “cup-a-soup”

Left back is Danny Tewson… and it really is bizarre
How a lad of his young age, can throw a ball so far!

At right back there is Liam… he doesn’t say that much
Not many balls get past him though… he kicks them into touch!

And Ollie likes to head the ball… or kick it in the air
You’d think the balls would all be flat or punctured, from his hair!

Across the back speeds Jamie… he thinks he’s in a race
But he’s saved us more than once before… because of his fast pace!

Kurtis thinks he’s “Ronaldo”… cos’ when he tries to score;
He’ll take on the defenders... and then go back for more!

When Adam Smith runs down the wing… he finds it hard to stop
He runs so hard, his face goes red, and looks like it might pop!

And don’t forget Sam Egglestone… he’s really versatile
Good in midfield or at the back, and service with a smile!

When Danny Kirk’s goes for the ball he doesn’t know when to quit
He’ll kick it out with all his strength, and then we’ll all shout “Ave it”!

Matt Bower has a sweet left foot… he is a skilful lad
And the way he plays when he comes on… should really please his dad!

Well Danny Grubb’s a tackler… he really is a fighter
He’s always nipping at their feet… a proper ankle biter!

Since Nick and Mike first joined the squad… they’ve both played superb games
And we all cheered them when they scored…once we’d learned their names!!!

Now Callum doesn’t struggle...it’s like he’s on a mission
To score some goals and win the game… so he can then go fishing!

Last but not least is little Frank … well what more can we say
He doesn’t do much running … but he puts the goals away!

So…there they are from back to front, they’re cheeky and they’re loud
But they’re our boys and when they play… they really make us proud!

So…. raise your drinks up in the air…. or get one from the fridge
