Spin the bottle
lazily, watch, anticipate;
dance the down dilly
down the old wooded lane.
/
Dance in the bluebells,
in the sheaves arrow leaves;
run down to the meir
where the Sticklebacks swarm.
.
"I have a jar, and you the net!"
"Yeah," he agrees lazily
his foot paddling the surface
We reach and over-reach
.
into the lake, our dance
is nearly done, time takes
our places, and the bluebells
grow on, and new children
swarm. Where once we
knew that our lives begun.
.
Spin the bottle
Too late - we all know the answer
too late for anticipation, too late
for the dance.
