The Moon Laments His Love for the Sun
To share the same sky, the aching swells
to acquiesce and heed your call.
As Winter's hand stirs the compulsion,
that I resisted hard throughout the fall.
To etch your features into my soul,
touch the shimmering glow that lures.
To turn my face and drink you in,
embrace the perfection that endures.
My longings hide in clouds clustered thick,
that my eager fingers yearn to ease apart.
To feel the burn of your forbidden sight,
the blaze that would irradiate my heart.
My shield,
a chasm that protects my mirrored glance,
to shy away from the heat in which you're draped.
My longing,
to meet the eyes of beauty that compelled, I follow,
never coming too close as across the sky I chase.
I would brave blue acres that surround,
which shine brightly with your grace.
A thousand deaths, in silence, I would die,
to feel your fingers stroke upon my face.
Instead, I dress in blackened garb and hide
desire in veiled silver star distraction.
Enduring yet another night of my infatuation,
unrequited love, affirmed deepening attraction.
I only share the pale blue sky with you,
when Winter takes a hold, dulling your endeavour.
I catch a glimpse of your face when you turn my way,
a dimmed reflection of beauty that I savour.
